You have your website optimized for usability, customer-centric design and search engines. What else can you do to promote your website and get more traffic? Advertise. There are a lot of options now. What makes sense for your business?
Cheap Methods of Promotion
- One of the best ways to promote your website is just to include the link to your website in any communications you send out: emails, enewsletters, quotes, RFPs, brochures, etc.

eNewsletters can be a great way to drive traffic to your website and keep your brand in your customers’ minds. Once you have an enewsletter vendor and an audience of people who have given you permission to send them information, you need to put together content for your enewsletter. In order to be most effective, you’ll need to send out an enewsletter at least monthly, preferably more often. What types of content are valuable to your customers (and potential customers)?
B2B Content - SEO vs. Customer-Centric Design

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) firms will tell you that you need to have keyword-optimized pages on your website in order to appear in Google’s search results for those keywords. Customer-centric design requires that your website be designed with your customer foremost in-mind. Can these co-exist? Can you have the best of both worlds?
Yes and no. Search engines put a good deal of weight on how often content is updated on the site and for each of the keywords in question. Keeping keyword-optimized pages updated can be (and usually is) a full-time job. Have you ever been on a keywords-optimized site as a customer who is trying to find something? Often it is difficult to wade through all the content written only for the search engines.

Permission Marketing is only advertising to people who have told you they are interested in your products or services. This gives you a much smaller audience, but one who is much more likely to purchase your products. Interest can be shown in many forms: a website visit, an email, a phone call, a booth visit. Don’t forget to include your past and current customers - the ultimate form of interest!

Advertising only works if you can reach your target audience (obviously). How do you reach that audience on the web? More importantly, how do you do that without spending a lot of money on an advertising firm?
The easiest way to advertise is through a search engine such as Google or Yahoo! They both offer services that allow you to create ads and target the ads to certain keywords or phrases that you believe your audience is searching for. You only pay when someone clicks on your ad.
